As a design leader, my ongoing goal is to create profound connections between my clients and the people who matter most to them—connections that happen when an over-arching story, supported by a flexible, adaptive system, is integrated into every experience.

For 20 years, I’ve led cross-disciplinary teams with this focus, guided by an understanding that great work can be achieved when the goal is clear, expectations are very high, and egos are left at the door. My career has spanned Communications, Brand, and Experience Design across a wide range of global B-to-C and B-to-B brands (see below).

Overview:

• Design leader with 20 years experience managing and directing cross-disciplinary teams
• Successful track record of overseeing up to $25MM of billings per year
• Strategic, 360-degree thinker fixated on creating high-impact work
• Core skill sets in both visual design and writing
• Extensive understanding of strategy, content development, UX & UI
• Deep experience with global brands
• Natural storyteller with human-centered design approach
• Ability to recruit, build and nurture winning teams
• Ability to shape new business opportunities and deepen current client relationships
• Ability to coalesce needs of different stakeholders into compelling creative strategies and solutions

I am currently the Executive Creative Director at Adrenaline, an experience design firm that executes across the full range of customer touchpoints—from branding to advertising to interactive to environmental. I’ve helped grow the now 150-person company from $15MM to $110MM in billings. Key clients include Charles Schwab, USAA, and Optum Health.

Prior to joining Adrenaline, I was ECD at MaxMedia for three years. My team's work there combined story and technology to move people at an emotional level — bonding them to places, ideas and brands. Key clients included AT&T, The Home Depot, McKinsey & Company, and Surterra Wellness.

For 12 years, I was Principal and Creative Director at Iconologic. My team there created brand systems and content for leading corporate and cultural institutions such as The Coca-Cola Company, The International Olympic Committee, The Republic of Trinidad & Tobago, Visa, and Volkswagen.

Career Highlights:

Brand Identity
I’ve developed Identity Systems for global brands, worldwide events, countries, cultural institutions, NGOs, startups, communities, and hip hop stars.

Sport
I was involved in the Olympic movement for over a decade, serving as an advisor to the International Olympic Committee, design director for the Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games, and designing sponsorship campaigns for Coca-Cola (Beijing 2008, Vancouver 2012, Sochi 2014), VW (Beijing 2008) and Visa (Sochi 2014). Additionally, I was the design director for three 2014 FIFA World Cup global sponsorship programs—Coca-Cola, Powerade, and VISA; Atlanta’s host bid for the 2022 FIFA; the International Amateur Wrestling Federation (now UWW)’s "Save Olympic Wrestling" campaign (which resulted in the IOC decision to retain the world's oldest sport); and Art Director for Team USA’s 2004 apparel and merchandise.

Innovation
In addition to my role as ECD, I oversaw MaxMedia's Lab, a 3,500 sq/ft space devoted to the exploration of digital storytelling through technologies such as VR/AR/MR, physical-digital interfaces, data-driven visualization, and projection mapping. The Lab served as an engine for client work and business development.

Corporate Communication
I spent much of my early career developing communications for leading corporations such as IBM (5 yrs), Coca-Cola (5 yrs), Polo Ralph Lauren (4 yrs), The Limited, Seagram, Accenture, Compaq, and Seagate Technology.

Bill Murray
I once designed a movie poster with Bill, and then we had a beer together.

Mentorship
I founded Iconoclasts, an experimental school/internship program; DesignCamp, a summer program for elementary and high-school students; and Rising Sons, a father-son adventure organization.

Community
I’ve served on the Boards of The Creative Circus, a design and advertising school in Atlanta; Good Thinking, a non-profit design collaborative; and Waldorf School of Atlanta, a K-8th grade private school.

Education
I am a graduate of Roanoke College (English) and Miami Ad School/Portfolio Center (Design). I've traveled to six continents, 31 countries, and 49 states, however my home is Atlanta where I live with my wife and two sons.
